Ghastlighting (1) plays its title between the spectral and the psychological — a nod to gaslighting and the haunted edges of perception. It extends JoCa's non finito language, where the figure surfaces and dissolves and identity stays unstable and provisional.

In oil on canvas, features build and break across the surface through layered, interrupted marks, so the face reads as half-remembered rather than fixed. The intimate scale draws the viewer close.
