The Dreamer (18) continues JoCa's Dreamer series, where the human figure is built up and broken down to picture identity as unstable and provisional — the face closer to a memory than a likeness, in JoCa's signature non finito language.

Worked in oil on canvas, dissolved passages meet firmer marks so presence and disappearance hold together on one surface. The square format concentrates attention and rewards sustained looking.
