Details
Space Invader turns on boundaries and the quiet tension of intrusion—occupying space physically and psychologically, equilibrium disrupted by a persistent rather than dramatic force. It sits within Pia Dehne's work, where surface and presence carry as much meaning as subject, though here the mode is restrained oil rather than layered collage.
Executed in oil on canvas, the 2025 painting favors layered depth and gradual tonal shifts over overt gesture. Color fields and subtle movement suggest disruption without spectacle, balance altered almost imperceptibly. Intimate in scale, it asks to be read at close range, its charge held in atmosphere and material rather than declaration.
