Details
Memories turns Francisco Gonce's interest in atmosphere and emotional intensity toward recollection—remembrance not as a fixed image but as fragments that surface, overlap and fade. It works at intimate scale, an introspective space where feeling and material meet rather than a narrated scene.
Executed in oil and oil stick on paper, the 2025 work balances the depth of oil against the directness of the stick's tactile marks. The result feels both deliberate and instinctive, echoing how memory forms—layered and imperfect. Small in size, it draws the viewer inward and rewards the slow looking his work asks for.
