Magi Original Oil Painting by Tamar Sulakvelidze
Details
Magi is one of the two works the gallery names when describing Tamar Sulakvelidze, a painter who works in the register of myth. The title reaches for the Magi not as characters but as figures of knowledge and foresight — a state of awareness rather than a scene. As in much of her work, a symbolic subject carries a contemporary psychological charge.
Worked in oil on fabric, the cloth absorbs pigment and introduces a soft irregularity, so gesture stays alive without hardening. There is intuition in the surface and the quiet authority the gallery notes in her practice — meaning rising slowly to the top rather than announcing itself. A unique 2024 painting, mounted on a professional wooden frame and ready to hang.
