Under the name “Matador,” Israel González makes deliberate, pared-back images in small signed editions. MAC - 012 sits within the MAC group of his ongoing series Más Allá de la Materia — “beyond matter” — which treats physical substance as a vehicle for inquiry rather than an end in itself. Here that idea is carried through balance and material clarity, with nothing added that the composition does not need.

Printed with archival pigment on 290 gsm baryta cotton paper, the work draws on the stock’s capacity for deep blacks and refined highlights to hold detail across a narrow tonal range. In its square 35-centimeter field, contrast and proportion do the speaking. Mounted on dibond in a Pacific maple frame, it arrives clean and ready to hang.
