Details
Azu-cena is a small work by Jordi Alós, who paints from his studio in Mexico City in a language that holds raw expression against classical discipline. His work draws on street culture, art brut and realism and moves easily between the rough and the refined; here that tension plays out quietly, at close range, in something more lyrical than declarative.
It is oil on canvas panel, the rigid support letting him keep the gestures measured and the color relationships deliberate even at this size. At 20 × 15 cm the painting works by restraint, pulling the viewer in toward small shifts of texture and tone. It is offered unframed.
